Terms, privacy and cookies

Who we are

Motorfolk is a planned trading name of DWH Venture Works Ltd (company and ICO registration details to be added). Motorfolk is a marketplace: private sellers and dealers advertise cars, and buyers contact them. Motorfolk is not a party to the sale of any car and never takes payments or deposits for cars.

Terms of use (outline)

  • You must be 18 or over and give accurate details about yourself and any car you advertise.
  • Dealers are traders: they must show their legal business name, keep advertised prices complete (no compulsory fees added later) and meet their consumer-law duties to buyers.
  • Private sellers may list up to two cars at a time for free, must own or be authorised to sell the car, and must confirm it is still available when asked.
  • Photos must be of the actual car and taken by you or with permission. We remove location data from photos and may blur plates.
  • Messaging is for arranging a sale. Harassment, scams, illegal content and off-platform payment pressure are prohibited; anyone can report a message or advert and we act on reports.
  • We may pause, hide or remove adverts and accounts that break these terms, with a stated reason and a route to appeal.
  • Dealer subscriptions: monthly, cancel any time, with the plan's stock and branch limits.

Privacy notice (outline)

What we collect: account details; adverts, photos and messages you create; Garage records you add; Buyer Radar preferences; dealer team and billing details; the results (never the images) of identity and business checks; technical logs for security.

Why and on what basis: to run the marketplace you asked for (contract); to keep it safe and honest, including moderation, fraud checks and availability prompts (legitimate interests); to send product news only if you opt in (consent). Service messages about your account are always sent.

Sharing: with the people you message (your display name and messages), with dealers you choose to share a Radar with (anonymised), and with providers who process data for us under contract. We never sell personal data.

Keeping: account data while you have an account and for a short period after; invoices for six years; other people's copies of conversations; an audit log of safety decisions. Deleted accounts are anonymised, not kept.

Your rights: download your data at any time from your account; ask us to correct or delete it; object to processing based on legitimate interests; complain to the ICO. We answer requests within one month.

Cookies

We only set cookies that are strictly necessary to run the service, so no consent banner is shown: your sign-in session, which dealership you are working in, your compare list, and one-time secrets that expire within minutes. No analytics or advertising cookies are set. Map tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap, which sets no cookies. If we add analytics, it will be off until you switch it on here.

Safety and complaints

Report any advert or message from the page it is on. Reports go to our team with a priority; urgent reports (threats, fraud in progress) are handled first. We will publish a complaints procedure and appeals route before launch.
